Ron Dennis
Ronald Dennis CBE was born in Woking, England on the 1st June 1947 and is the executive chairman of McLaren Automotive, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of McLaren Group, and a significant shareholder in both companies. Whilst the name on the company door may say “McLaren” the modern organisation we see today speaks volumes for the founder’s successor, Ron Dennis.
On 16 January 2014 it was announced that Ron Dennis would return as CEO of McLaren, combining his current role as Chairman of McLaren Group.
“The driving force has got to be a desire to be the best, not just to take money. Fortunately, if you are winning Grand Prix you can have both. I’ve often said I would prefer to be recognised as a successful businessman before a successful motorsport director but if came to a choice, I would most certainly choose winning a grand prix over making a million dollars” – Ron Dennis.
