Aquila Italiana
The Return!

There is something special about small sports car manufacturers they house special individuals, individuals who are highly passionate about the product that rolls out the factory door. That's not to say that there are not people at larger organisations who have a personal love for their company's product, no it is just that they are not on the same level as the workers at companies like "Aquilia Italiana" who make "hand-made" products.

To me "Hand Made" means an object that has inherited the personality of the craftspeople at that point in time, it can never be repeated, a "one-off" something special. We regard human beings as special because there will never be another; Fangio, Senna, Schumacher, all "one-off's".

The company...Aquila Italiana was founded as the "Società Anonima Aquila" and renamed as "Società Anonima Italiana Aquila" an Italian automobile manufacturer from 1906 to 1917. The company was named again in 1909 after it was acquired by banks as "Aquila Anonima Italiana di L. Marsaglia", before being defunct in 1917.

However, they are back and this is the wording from their web. Go see.

A name that evokes the golden age of Italian car making, a time when Italy was at the forefront of both the technical know-how and the spirit of innovation. In a world increasingly homologated, planned without any rush or madness, where everything is controlled and polished up in every part but empty as a whole. Aquila Italiana aims to bring back to light all the technical and human knowledge for which we Italians are renowned, remixing it wisely to achieve “mechanical art”.
